IMPACT doesn't always mean giving something away. One of the most amazing blessings has been our partnership with several local organizations. The impact isn't always impact on others, there's also a tremendous impact on our own lives through partnerships created.
In September 2015, we began a partnership with Community Living, right here in our own community. Community Living is an organization that focuses on enriching the lives of people with disabilities. Their day program clients are able to sort, rubber band and count the shoes in to bags for us. This impacts them by creating a job for them. But it also impacts us through the relationships developed with both the staff and clients at the centers.
When we receive new or gently used professional shoes, we donate them to Connections to Success. When they receive shoes from their partners that they are not able to use for their mission, they donate the shoes back to us. This is a win-win for both organizations and those that we serve.
This amazing organization “inspires families to realize their dreams and achieve economic independence by providing hope, resources and a plan.” Through their Dress for Success program, they are able to suit individuals in outfits that make them feel good and give them the confidence to go to their job interview and land the job.
The mission of Bright Futures is "Together... committing all that we are to enrich the life of a child." Bright Futures Lincoln County works within the Lincoln County R-III School District in Missouri to connect student needs with existing community resources. The Bright Futures model brings together businesses, human service agencies, faith-based organizations, and parent groups and partners them with schools in a way that helps them to quickly and efficiently meet students’ basic needs – often within 24 hours. This enables students and teachers to focus on education and achieving success.
Where does Shoes & Hope fit in? We are working on a county wide shoe drive beginning with a local church in Troy, MO. We will pull out children's shoes that are in good condition and those shoes will stay in the Lincoln County communities. The remainder of the shoes will be donated to Shoes & Hope to raise funds for "Bright Futures Lincoln County Latrines."
We want to show people that one persons "trash" can be used to impact something good. The funds from the sale of these shoes will be used to fund latrines in Quebrada de Agua, Guatemala in the name of Bright Futures Lincoln County.
We will also pull from our new shoe stock as specific shoe needs are posted.
Shoes & Hope is a 501C3 non profit organization.
